NIMHANS Brain

UberCloud Received 2018 Hyperion Innovation Excellence Award for HPC in Personalized Clinical Treatment of Schizophrenia and Parkinsons

This prestigious award from Hyperion and the HPC User Forum Steering Committee recognizes the high value of HPC simulations in improving the clinical application of non-invasive electro-stimulation of the human brain in schizophrenia and other neuropsychiatric disorders. Adding HPC, clinicians can now precisely target regions of the brain without affecting the healthy brain! The simulations have been performed by NIMHANS National Institute of Mental Health in India, Dassault SIMULIA, Advania Data Centers, and UberCloud, and sponsored by HPE and Intel.

Team 207 2

UberCloud Received Second 2018 Hyperion Innovation Excellence Award for Helping a Law Firm Winning a Lawsuit with HPC

The second Hyperion HPC Award for Innovation Excellence (out of three awards for 2018 went also to UberCloud for its HPC Cloud project “UberCloud, Fraunhofer Institute for Building Physics and Microsoft Azure helped PBBL Law with first-time HPC Cloud in winning a lawsuit against the builder of residential condominium towers”. In addition, this same team won this year’s HPCwire Editors Choice Award for Best Use of HPC in the Cloud !

Jean-Luc Assor in CIO small

From the Data Center to the Edge and to the Cloud The Future of HPC Is Hybrid

In this CIO Review Cover Story, Jean-Luc Assor, HPE’s WW Manager Hybrid HPC, explains how HPC has the potential to transform the entire product lifecycle with simulation, big data and deep learning. To capitalize on this opportunity, we need to redefine the way we deploy, use and pay for HPC technologies. That’s why hybrid HPC is the model of the future. It creates financial flexibility with consumption-based models. It can be deployed from edge to core to cloud to provide the optimal performance for each task. And it drives agility and collaboration with purpose-built IaaS and PaaS platforms.

Digital Validation: Oil and Gas

This LinkedIn Post from UberCloud’s David Waltzman analyzes the major challenges in oil and gas drilling operations and how they can be resolved by applying HPC simulations. Such challenges are high cost, machinery failure because of stresses on the impeller and surrounding components, thermal load, shock and vibrations, and finally a huge amount of HPC simulations which are necessary to determine where the drilling sites should be located and predict production potential of the wells.

Wim SlagterScaling up Computing Capacity

In this article in Scientific Computing World, ANSYS Director of HPC and Cloud Wim Slagter highlights the importance of HPC for engineering Simulations – whether on premise or in the cloud. ANSYS has developed a FREE benchmark tool that allows users to test their own simulation model on a small HPC cluster to demonstrate the benefits of scaling up an organization’s computing infrastructure. “I personally have never come across an engineer yet who does not want more computing power”, Wim Slagter says.

Democratization of HPC Part 4: Deep Learning for Fluid Flow Prediction in the Cloud

This is the fourth and final article in HPCwire demonstrating the growing acceptance of HPC in new user communities and application areas. We present UberCloud use case #211 on Deep Learning for Fluid Flow Prediction in the Advania Data Centers Cloud, for educational purposes, for our wider engineering simulation community. This project is another demonstration of the trend toward easy-to-use application software (in this case OpenFOAM) and the seamless access to HPC cloud resources based on UberCloud’s HPC Containers.

Azure

UberCloud Now Available in the Microsoft Azure Marketplace

This announcement has been featured in Bio-IT World. UberCloud customers can now take advantage of the scalability, high availability, and security of Azure, with streamlined deployment and management. “UberCloud’s HPC software containers provide engineers with seamless and immediate access to the cloud,” said Wolfgang Gentzsch, President of TheUberCloud, in a press release. “UberCloud’s new Cloud HPC consultation offerings on Microsoft Azure Marketplace will show engineers how easily they can benefit from the cloud to accelerate their simulations and increase their productivity.”
